About COEN

The COEN Story

From the Kitchen Table to Nationally recognised brand

A Note from Our Founder, Craig Dyke

For over 25 years, I lived in the corporate world, running business units in the mining, oil, and gas sectors. My days were filled with strategy, customer / business relationships, coaching staff, business turnarounds, board meetings, mergers, acquisitions and traveling to many different countries, I had a deep passion for business, culture and people.  At 53, I reached a crossroad. I knew I was done with the corporate life, the question was, what next? Should I stay in the industry I knew, or build something entirely new?

I found my answer in a problem I saw the construction industry struggling to solve: the choice between the natural beauty of timber and the longevity of synthetic materials. I knew there had to be a way to have both, without compromising the environment.

From a paddock....

The beginning was humble. The business started on the kitchen table while renting a small block of vacant land from a mate to hold the stock. Those early days were spent in constant communication with manufacturers, designing and testing products then refining our processes to ensure the product extrude would withstand the famously harsh Australian conditions.

COEN Composite Wood has a clear mission: to design and create products that didn’t just mimic wood but improved upon it. The use of recycled materials was another motivating force to protect the very landscapes our products are designed to endure.

Growth with Purpose

Today, COEN has grown into a nationally recognised brand. We’ve moved from that vacant block into our own warehouse, showroom and offices, where ‘Team COEN’ adds real value to your project combining the right technical knowledge and design expertise with a level of service that sets us apart.

Why COEN?

Today, our goal is clear: to take this expertise both nationally and internationally. COEN was established to give Australian architects, builders, developers, and modular manufacturers direct access to the source, simultaneously, adding value to their projects.

We aren’t just a supplier; we are partners in our customers projects – with product, product design and value added services. Whether it’s a bespoke commercial project, a modular manufacturer, or a family deck, we use our in-house capabilities to recommend the best products that work with your vision.

At COEN, We Care, and our ethos remains the same as the day I started: Quality, Delivery, and Passion.
